Our Policies

Vaccinations

For the safety of your pet and our groomers, we do require up-to-date records of the rabies vaccination. The collar tag alone is insufficient—we will require either the actual paper documentation or you can email the information to us at luckydogyukon@gmail.com. Please remember to either bring documentation with you or email us before your first visit. Self-administered rabies vaccinations not accepted, must be administered by a licensed veterinarian.

Weight Limit

Due to an overwhelming demand for large breed grooming, we are no longer able to accept new clients with large dogs that weigh 50lbs or heavier. Large dogs require more time and extra space and unfortunately, we do not have enough of either to keep up with the demand at this time. If you have a puppy that you expect to exceed 50lbs at maturity, please be aware that we may deny service. We recommend taking large breed puppies to a groomer who will be able to work with them through maturity. Pre-existing clients with large dogs will be grandfathered in and receive continued service as usual.

Age Limit

While we wish we could provide all dogs the service they need, the reality is that elderly dogs are at a higher risk of experiencing complications while grooming and require extra special care and attention. Unless we have already been servicing your dog for quite some time, we recommend senior dogs be groomed at vet clinics that provide grooming services. This way if any health concerns arise, the vet is in the facility to address the issue immediately. For this reason, we do not accept new clients with small dogs the age of 12 and over, and large dogs the age of 10 and over.

Walk-Ins

We do not accept walk-ins and are an appointment based facility only. For walk-in nail trim services, we recommend Pawtopia located just north of us at 335 S Mustang Rd, Yukon, OK.

Late Fees and No-Shows

If you are late to your appointment, you will either be turned away or charged a late fee depending on your groomer’s schedule. Late fees are determined by the severity of lateness and/or how much it disrupts that day’s schedule. More than 2 late arrivals or no-show appointments on your record will result in all future appointments being paid in full during the booking of your appointment. If you are more than 5 minutes late picking up your dog(s) after our closing time of 5pm, you will be charged a late pick-up fee.

Pregnant Dogs

If your dog is currently pregnant, please be aware that we do not groom pregnant dogs here at Lucky Dog. Grooming can be a very stressful event for dogs, and this puts the mother and puppies at risk if the mother overexerts herself. We recommend finding a vet clinic with a groomer on staff for pregnancy grooming.

Aggression or Erratic Behavior

Grooming can be a very stressful activity for a lot of dogs. Some dogs act out in aggression or erratic behavior while grooming, which puts both the dog and groomer at risk of being injured. Here at Lucky Dog we strive to work with every dog and make them as comfortable as possible; however, some levels of aggression and anxiety are not worth risking injury. If your dog is aggressive or is acting erratically on the table, they are at risk of being sent home early without services being done. Clients will only pay for services actually completed.

Ear Plucking

We do not pluck ears at Lucky Dog Grooming. Recent research shows that unnecessary ear plucking can lead to increased risk of ear infection. If your dog does not suffer from chronic ear infections, ear plucking is not necessary. If your dog does suffer from chronic ear infections, it is best to let the vet take care of the ear plucking. Our policy is to shave the inside of the ear of any dog who may require it in order to create airflow and prevent matting; however, all hair inside the ear canal will remain.
